Chippewa Motorcycle Boots

Chippewa has been making boots for over a century, since October 1901, since before motorcycles! Originally they made only logger boots in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, and they are named after the Native American Chippewa Tribe of the region. They employed 175 employees and produced 1,200 pairs daily. The boots quickly became known for their high quality.

They expanded to a new factory in 1910 and then in 1930, started making work shoes and so called “Engineer Boots,” made by combining a “stovepipe leg shaft over an English Riding boot last.” They were used by surveyors which may be where the term engineer boot came from, but today, that original Engineer Boot used by many motorcyclists worldwide, and are well known doe their great leg protection and durability.

During World War II their fleece lined Artic Boots were popular among soldiers who often parachuted into the snow and the mountains and extreme cold, often on skis. They are still made today and known as the “Minus 50” boots. I’ve seen minus 50, hope to never see it again, but would love to have a pair of Minus 50 boots on should I.

In the 50s, outdoor recreation became extremely popular and Chippewa came up with their Chippewa Snake Boot , developed for hunters and other outdoor people.

Chippewa today is a Berkshire Hathaway company and makes several lines of Chippewa Motorcycle Boots.

The first is the original Engineer Boots. They make a few styles, all similar, one of the most popular for motorcycle's being the Chippewa Street Warrior Engineer Boot.

It's a very solid and strong black boot, with a durable and oiled leather upper with adjustable buckle detailing that is water, oil, fuel and chemical resistant. They have a shock absorbing rubber outsole, a fully padded foot bed, and a triple ribbed steel shank.

Next are the stylish Chippewa Harness Boots, suitable for riding or just hanging out in, and offering that distinctive biker boot style.

Chippewa Trooper Boots are very popular among motorcycle officers for their rugged performance, durability as well as comfort, important if you are wearing them all day long.

They are a tall (17 inch) topgrain black leather boots with comfortable Texon insoles and removable orthotic inserts for comfort. These boots stand out with serious style too!

Last but not least, the Chippewa Rally Boots are their ultimate motorcycle boots, with a reinforced kick pad and Velcro side closure for a great and comfortable fit. Think look plus performance and you get the idea.
